The Nutrition Coaching Process

01

Apply here and I'll reach out to schedule a discovery call

Share your nutrition goals, what you'd like to get out of working with a dietitian, and I'll answer any questions you may have about working together.

02

Choose your package and begin the onboarding process.

You'll be invited to join your secure, private portal via email. This easy-to-use, virtual medical record system is an all-in-one platform that will give you access to your intake forms, scheduling, secure messaging, food/activity/lifestyle logging, & personalized resources.

03

Schedule your 60-minute initial assessment

Here we'll review your nutrition, health, fitness, and lifestyle history. We'll discuss your food preferences, training & competition schedule, relationship with food, any pertinent medical history, food & supplement intake, and your daily routine. You'll then receive personalized resources & recommendations based on your specific goals & needs. This may include flexible meal planning, nutrition education, competition day meal and snack ideas, intuitive eating exercises, labs, and/or supplement recommendations. â€‹Together, we'll then come up with 1-3 action steps which we will build on in follow-up sessions.

04

Schedule your 30-minute follow-up session

In follow-up sessions, we discuss your weekly wins and challenges. â€‹At each visit, we'll re-visit your goals, discuss what is and is not working for you and will adjust your plan accordingly. If you have other nutrition-related goals or concerns, we will address those as well.

FAQ's

Q: How long do you work with clients? It depends on individual client goals. I recommend committing to a minimum of 3 months to allow for individualization and creating enough tools to allow for long-term success.

Q: What is my financial investment? Please e-mail us at natalie@gavinutrition.com to inquire about pricing.

Q: Is there a difference in working with a registered dietitian vs a nutritionist? Yes! Registered dietitians have extensive training in the science of nutrition. The requirements to become a dietitian include: -Master's degree from an accredited university including the following coursework: anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, chemistry, organic chemistry, microbiology, statistics, medical nutrition therapy, food science, metabolism, and more -Completion of at least 1200 hours of supervised practice in various locations including: inpatient hospital settings, outpatient clinics, foodservice, community, among others -Pass a national board exam -Required completion of at least 75 continuing education hours every 5 years -Recognized by professional sport organizations, hospitals, schools, and government organizations Nutritionists have no formal training or education requirements. Since the title is unregulated, anyone can call themselves a nutritionist. Nutritionists are able to provide general nutrition recommendations (i.e. eat your fruits and vegetables,), however cannot provide specific sports or medical nutrition recommendations.

Q: Do you provide meal plans? I do not provide cookie cutter meal plans. If you are looking for more structured support, we can create a flexible meal plan together. This would take your food preferences, daily schedule, riding/training routine, nutrition needs, etc into account. At the end of the day, we're all human and life happens. If unexpected dinners or travel plans come up, we'll discuss tools to help you feel confident in knowing what to eat instead of confused, stressed, or guilty.

Q: Do you accept insurance? We do not accept insurance at this time however we do accept payment plans for our packages.

Q: Do you provide lab tests? Lab tests are included in our 1-, 3-, and 6-month package options. Your dietitian will handle the cost, ordering, and review of the recommended labs which may include but are not limited to: iron panels, vitamin D levels, omega-3 fatty acid levels, comprehensive metabolic panel, and more.
